The Author has performed a critical review of the studies published over the last 20 years, identified through PubMed, which have evaluated the applicability and the effectiveness of hypnosis in some dermatologic conditions with a psychosomatic component. He has pointed out that the strict mind-body correlation has made hypnosis an attractive candidate for the complementary treatment of such conditions, although published results do not allow to draw any conclusion about the clinical efficacy of this approach.
