Erotic desire in gender difference. A new reading of the myth of Psyche and Eros. The article takes into consideration the sexuality exploring its origins in a relational framework and in the light of gender difference. The infant’s primary erotic sensations in the contact with the mother’s body and shared with her, produce an area of pleasure and life that goes along with the girl and the boy in their emotional process of growth. This primary eroticism determines the development of an adult vital sexuality, integrating part and mainstay of the identity. The article analyzes in particular the roots and evolution of female sexuality and its intertwining with the acquisition of one own subjectivity. Finally the journey of female desire is illustrated in a new reading of the myth of Psyche and Eros.
