The article illustrates theoretical framework and methodology underlying to the European Working Conditions Survey carried out since the beginning of the 90s by the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound) based in Dublin. After discussing shortly the political context in which the concept of quality of work has developed and the reasons for its recent "popularity", the article focuses on elements and features of quality of work which have been employed to conceptualise and fully operationalise it in Eurofound approach. The analysis then continues with an overview of international organisations approaches to conceptualisation and measurement of quality of work and terminates with a description of the European Working Conditions Survey underpinning methodology.
