The paper presents some of the materials from a Miur-Prin (Ministry of education research programme) study conducted in 2008 on the regeneration of peripheral neighbourhoods which were physically, environmentally and socially rundown, carried out between the 1930s and the 1980s. The collection of writings and projects that follow addresses the emblematic example of the Roman neighbourhood of Tor Bella Monaca.
