The author discusses the mutual interaction between Psychoanalysis and the realms of Psychiatry, Psychology and Psychotherapy. Such issues have become essential in the arena of the current debate in regards to the specificity, the boundaries and the differences between the respective professional and institutional identities. The author discusses these problems from a clinical and a theoretical viewpoint as well as from the perspective of the different training policies that psychoanalitical as well as psychotherapeutical institutions might retain appropriate. And last but not least the question raised is what are the gains for psychoanalysis according to the different positions held in regards to these problems.
