This study aims to assess sex offender’s personality and cognitive styles, for prevention of crime and recidivism. Method: The sample is composed by twelve inmates of the district prison of Pesaro (PU, Italy) for sexual crimes against children and/or women. The instruments used are: a grid for collecting anamnesis and information about the crime, PCL-R and VRAQ and HSAQ, two questionnaires about cognitive distortions in validation in Italy. Results and conclusions: The data analysis did not show strong correlations. Relations emerged despite the small sample size are described and discussed. It is confirmed a difficulty in tracing a personality profile of the sex offender and are suggested new research perspectives.
