The story of Giorgio explains how supervision with psychogeriatric care staff, described in the previous article (Molteni, Pezzati and Ballabio, Group supervision with psychogeriatric care workers working in nursing homes: from urgency of acting to searching for meaning), allows a broader and more enriched construction of the elderly person representation. This new representation should be more similar to the complexity of his internal experience in order to promote both patient and care worker well-being. The supervisions let to be aware of the development of the patient representation and of the relationship with him. This process comes from feelings and emotions of each care worker and increases thanks to a new awareness of oneself and of the other person. The group, in a spirit of listening and non-judgment, allows the essential sharing to the building of new relationship manners and new representations in tune with patient feelings and life history.
