The author describes his encounters with Luciano Gallino, who exercised a strong influence on their scientific and cultural journey. Scientific references in that meeting give a sense of the cultural climate of those years. For Sapelli, Luciano Gallino was a great innovator of sociological reseach on company and on the community. The secret of his work is to combine a meticulous application of the methodology of social research with a description of the interactive relationship of man with his technical universe, almost knocking the Durkheimian perspective of the environment that preform the subject, and instead seeking out the ways in which the same person may climb up to mastering the environment, or also to design it.
