The essay intends to reconstruct the memory of the Italian Resistance and other relevant events in the period 1943-45 through the writings of Giulio Andreotti between 1959-1976. From the late Fifties Andreotti held many high office in government and has been a protagonist within the DC. Since 1955 he founded and directed the magazine «Concretezza», which quickly became much more than a self-referential journal. The articles and the speeches about Italian Military Internees, Rome Open City and patriotic Resistance bring out an anti-totalitarian memory, developing ideas capable of anticipating historiography.

Keywords: Giulio Andreotti; Italian Resistance; Italian Military Internees; Nationalist War; Army; Rome Open City.
