The patronage of the Dal Pozzo della Cisterna family as feudatory of Cisterna d’Asti offers remakable evidences between XVIIth and XVIIIth century, espe-cially after the awarding of the title of Prince to the male descendants of the dynasty (1670). They commissioned the building of the local mint, though it was operative for a short time, and above all the castle modification from a military architecture, placed in a strategic location, into a courtly palace. In the paper those episodes are considered into the wider strategies of the artistic patronage of the family during the Modern Age.
