The author addresses the issue of intimacy within the psychoanalytic process that develops when patient and analyst share the same real space in the analyst’s study. The clinical fragments presented demonstrate the importance of communication expressed through silence and bodily manifestations. The shared analytical setting is fundamental to guarantee the understanding of communications that are not always conveyed through the word. For these reasons, the "skype analysis", contradicting the fundamental aspects of our profession, seems to be a true oxy-moron.
