We publish in this forum, the interventions of some Founding Members of our Society of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. As is evident in each of these reflections, there are different lines of research and exploration that originates from a common matrix: the intent to transform the conception transmitted by classical psychoanalysis, anchored to rigid criteria dictated by the psychoanalytic Institution, in order to meet the needs of patients. Observation and clinical practice demonstrated the inapplicability of the psychoanalytic technique, as it was formulated, to patients with serious disorders as those who were in public institutions. On the other hand, our model of modulated setting proposed at the time of the society foundation, is nowadays particularly suited to the clinical situations we observe in our private studies and to what are called "new pathologies" (eg narcissistic and "addictive" pathologies), as well as the new social reality. The research has focused on the transference and countertransference dimension that accepts this primitive dimension of the mind, on the internal setting of the analyst and the supervisor, on the mind-body relationship and on the construction of a setting that can adapt to the archaic regression levels in which serious pathologies transit and stop. So, these interventions attest the scientific curiosity and the desire to find-create new possibilities of psychoanalytical "cure"; they originate from clinical observations ‒ so as Freud ‒ that were conducted with rigor and connected to theoretical-technical reflections that have pushed to an unorthodox psychoanalytic thought, already at the end of the ’70s. Keywords: research, transference, countertransference, modulation of setting.

Keywords: Ricerca, transfert, controtransfert, modulazione del setting.
