The participatory action-research had the aim to increase sense of community and personal empowerment of the adolescents living in Roncofreddo. Using focus groups and Photovoice participants had the chance to understand and discuss the pros and cons of the village they are living in and make proposals to make their village fit young people’s needs. To evaluate the experience and its capacity to increase young people’s sense of community and empowerment a longitudinal design was used. Sense of personal empowerment of young people increased thanks to their involvement in the project, despite the obstacles they encountered at the contextual level.
