In a phase like the present one, the city is characterized by multiculturalism, which is still faced with the criterion of the melting pot, the homogenization of differences, more than the complex one of the salad bowl. A crucial instrument is the reframing planning for the urban space focused on the achievement of inclusion processes, starting from the promotion of structural, specific, and widespread projects. The third spaces have a foundamental role. These are physical spaces where different subjects can meet, and start processes of construction of territorial communities based on differences and on contamination. Some policies have adopted a waiting strategy towards spontaneus processes of virtuous composition of differences. Others, instead, have adopted governig strategies, and active inclusion processes of differences.
