The article reconstructs one of the less studied aspects of the Church of Pius XII: the construction of churches and new parishes as a confessional response to urbanization processes. It focuses on the approach to building projects and on the economic relations adopted by the Venetian Church in terms of mainland developments between 1946 and 1958. The author demonstrates that behind the cooperation between the Venetian Church, the local authorities and private enterprise, there was an independent ecclesiastical project, although it was backed up by social and political compromise.
