The paper begins with an overview on the body-mind theme, underlining its importance on an epistemological, clinical and theoretical level in the psychoana-lytic scenario. The author, through theoretical reinterpretations and clinical cases, focuses on the different levels at which the body can enter the scenario of the mind in the complex individual psychic development, exploring the possibility of representing one’s own biological body on a psychic level and dwelling on the pro-cess that leads one’s corporality to a "psychic visibility". When the primitive inte-gration processes fail or are compromised, a form of body-mind dissociation can be established, an aspect that can be highlighted in different forms of psycho-pathology and contemporary symptomatic behaviors. The contribution also, through a specific clinical passage, underlines the centrality of the psychoanalyst’s body reactions in delicate moments of the treatment, focusing on a particularly intense body countertransference. The body countertransference can indicate el-ements that are not yet approachable on a different level from that of somatic manifestations. The body gives important indications regarding the location of un-thinkable elements of the patient’s internal world, and is also a "state regulator" for the ongoing therapeutic relationship and for the psychoanalyst’s own invest-ment possibilities and availability.

Keywords: body-mind relationship and dissociation, body in psychoanalysis, body countertransference, psychoanalytic process, psyche-soma integration.
