The essay proposes a historical analysis of the interventions for the promotion and protection of cultural heritage in Catania after World War II, a period in which the contradictions between the tension towards economic growth emerged in a more disruptive way, also thanks to an uncontrolled building development, and monumental, archaeological and landscape protection, equipped with regulatory and technical-operational tools.
