Digital technologies play a central role in the transformation of the energy sector. The new climate and environmental goals, supported by digitalisation, require considering the legal and institutional implication. In particular, they regard the challenges faced by regulation and energy transition’s players. Compared to the main applications of digital technologies, the article analyses the changes on the consumer role and the renewed public intervention. Specifically, it focuses on the role of the central government, local authorities and regulatory authority.
