The Sicily of sulfur in the end of the century crisis and the anti-rhetoric of Napoleone Colajanni The essay analyzes Colajanni’s interpretations of the problems of Sicily in the aftermath of the Fasci. In particular, the reality that gravitated around the sulfur industry was assumed by the intellectual as a sort of thermometer capable of recognizing the serious conditions of a feverish body subject to convulsions. This choice was based on a double motivation: it was not only the dimension that Colajanni knew best, but it was also the one that contained all those problematic and unresolved elements that continued to make Sicily a special observation.
