This article analyses the theme of the anticlericalism in the Italy of the Risorgimento from a specific episode about the Roman Republic of the 1848- 49: murder of ecclesiastics by the finanzieri standed in San Calisto. Although the notoriety of the event, the search would read this episode of anticlerical violence through unused sources (processual acts, memories, letters, journals), searching, in this way, to retake a reading about these events from different points of view and investigating in which way the memory of these events had been re-elaborated in the following years and its propagandistic use.
