This article proposes a study of the debate on the relationship between fascism and an--tisemitism in the press of colonial Tunisia, focusing on Italian and French local news--papers published between 1922 and 1938. The author investigates the historical con--texts and patterns in which the issue of fascist antisemitism was evoked and discussed, in order to better understand how Italy and its regime were perceived by foreign public opinion during the interwar period. The analysis highlights how international questions – such as the rise of Nazism – entangled with short--term local dynamics, often involv--ing Italian Jews living in the country. From the interplay between these opposing points of view emerged an original representation of the events affecting Jews in fas--cist Italy.
Keywords: antisemitism, fascism, press, Tunisia, colonialism, Italian emigration.
