This article, starting from the common challenges faced by Alpine tourist destinations, examines the transformations of tourism in Sondrio Province territorial context. Four interpretative categories are identified, synthesizing the emerging geographies shaped by the evolution of tourism development in the Valtellina territories: hubs, emerging destinations, declining areas, and stable locations. The crossanalysis of tourism development processes and territorial structures highlights the critical role of tourism in shaping the territory, underscoring the need for integrated spatial and strategic planning frameworks to address the complexity of these processes and guide a sustainable transition in these regions.
