The temporal dimension in psychotherapy represents a multilayered variable intrinsically connected to subjective identity, relational dynamics, and the clinical setting. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of IIPR, this article offers an epistemological and clinical reflection on time, revisiting the historical evolution of therapeutic practices and outlining future perspectives. Time is examined as both a subjective and intersubjective construct, modulated by psychopathological conditions (anxiety, depression) and reorganized through the therapeutic process. The paper demonstrates how psychotherapy acts as a catalyst for a functional reorganization of temporality, integrating past, present, and future into a coherent narrative, within a dialogical framework that involves both patient and therapist.

Keywords: time, psychotherapy, subjectivity, identity, hypnosis, therapeutic temporality.
