This article presents an elaboration of a video interview with Anna Rita Ravenna, a key figure in the development of Gestalt psychotherapy in Italy, intertwining personal narrative and the evolution of the model within the Italian context. Through the thread of “chance” as an opening to possibilities, Gestalt emerges as an embodied experience and a way of life, rather than merely a theoretical framework.
The main steps of its diffusion are retraced, from the foundation of the Gestalt Institute of Florence to the establishment of FISIG, highlighting the value of dialogue among differences in shaping the Gestalt community. Clinical and institutional experience, particularly within the SAIFIP context, further illustrates the generative potential of the Gestalt perspective in complex settings, grounded in respect for uniqueness and diversity.
Overall, the paper offers a view of Gestalt as a relational practice and an ethics of becoming, rooted in lived experience and individual responsibility.
