The anti-globalisation protest, which has been developed from Seattle to Puerto Alegre, is an event worth to be attentively inquired. This article focuses the ideas which are behind this protest and, in particular, ideas concerning political and ethical values firmly stated by the groups and the organizations which participate to the protest. The author argues that, behind the superficial homogeneity of the principles of social justice and of the idea of global public good defended, there are some very important differences concerning the reasons that are at basis of the protest. These reasons are appointed on different ethical and political orientations endorsed by the different members of the movement. The essay shows that in the movement there are the catholic-reformist position and the anticapitalistic position and that, even if they appear to agree about the reasons of the protest and the solutions suggested to govern globalisation, there is a strong gap between both reasons and solutions of these two positions.
