Healing trauma - The article describes the clinical case of a patient who, following a traumatic event, develops hypochondria and somatization based symptoms. The authors focus on the lack of awareness of the disease and the lack of mentalizing capacity. A dysfunction in the primary relationship of care with the caregiver is hypothesized as the inability to mentally represent the pain which is experienced only in a physical way. The usefulness of a therapeutic relationship based on keeping the painful experiences for proper processing of the trauma is emphasized.

Keywords: Hypochondrias; Somatization; Trauma; Mentalization; Dysfunctional primary relationships.
