The crime mapping is the geo referencing of the crime site locations by type of crime typically, typically conducted in an urban context. The geographical profiling is the technique by which it predicts the area of residence of a serial criminal. The most known software packages to implement the aforementioned techniques are illustrated and a two applications of crime mapping and geographical profiling in Italy are showed. Further developments and innovative applications of crime mapping are discussed.
