Our country is currently undergoing a phase that is different from the one which has largely influenced urban planning. The hypothesis of this paper is that many of the underutilized and abandoned building will strongly resist to reuse processes. It will be necessary to define a new role for urban planning: a role which should be channelled not so much towards a re-composition perspective, but towards the definition of coexistence principles able to deal with such forms of dereliction.
