The goal of the repeated interventions of the legislator is completely in line with the investigative nature of the Guardia di Finanza and, in this sense, does not overlap with the functions assigned to other organizations dealing with the control of the public expenditure system. The cases run by the Guardia di Finanza operational units in the field of public expenditure, in fact, aim to establish pathological cases of substantial deviation of expenditure flows from the predefined public benefit purposes, to recover unduly paid contributions and to stop the distribution of those still to be disbursed.
Keywords: European Union; damage revenue; corruption; extortion; public funds; fraud.
