The proposed clinical case is based upon the history of G., whose suffering suggests a cognitive-behavioural intervention. The decision to involve parents in the clinical intervention, meanwhile respecting the patient’s need for privacy, is based upon the evidence that multiple-setting treatment produces a better outcome. Furthermore, we explain the rationale of the intervention by showing the application of different techniques fully described and scientifically validated; all techniques are merged together into a unique therapeutic strategy, which is built upon a case conceptualization tailored to the patient.

Keywords: psychotherapy, adolescence, parenting, eating disorders, self-harm, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
