The essay addresses some critical issues that today stand in the way of the emergence and construction of a decent care labour market, with specific reference to the role of industrial relations systems and collective bargaining. The analysis concerned 54 National Collective Agreements, focusing on those norms that are crucial for the study of collective bargaining in its institutional (and preliminary) function of labour markets construction (employees’ profes-sional classification, remuneration, training and professional development).
