In 1967, in Bologna, with the special patronage of the Emilia-Romagna section of the UCID, a number of Italian entrepreneurs and managers founded the Cen-tre for Studies and Information on Enterprise Problems (CESIPI). By drawing on the pa¬pers in the rich institutional archive, this contribution intends to fo-cus on the ori¬gins of this organisation, with particular reference to the cultural development un¬derlying its launch and initiatives promoted in its early years. By highlighting its multi-causal approach to the study of enterprise, the re-search analyses the contribu¬tion made by CESIPI on relevant issues, such as Christian-inspired entrepreneurial action, the relationship between the ruling class and economic development, the concept of participation, social reforms and the relationship between trade unions, politics and the economy. What emerges is a new chapter in Italian business cul¬ture that sheds light on new profiles and the role of Catholic reform culture.
