The research investigates the role of collective memory in the process of prevention, management, and recovery from disasters, hypothesizing that modernity has compromised its transmission. The research is focused upon the floods in the Catania area, comparing that of 1951 - through analysis of the press review of the time, with that of 2021, this one analyzed through a fieldwork in the “Pescheria” area with semi-structured interviews.
