The paper examines the intersection between migration and homelessness in Italy. Contextualizing the topic within the framework of economic crises and increasing migratory flows in recent years, the text highlights how migrants represent a significant and growing proportion of the homeless population in Europe and, specifically, in Italy. The ambiguities of existing classifications in detecting and categorizing the specific vulnerabilities of migrants are highlighted, often linked to complex migratory paths, precarious legal conditions, and difficulties in accessing housing and services. Through the analysis of data from various Italian (ISTAT, Caritas, fio. PSD) and European (European Homelessness Count) sources, the paper shows the high number of migrants, particularly those from non-EU countries among the homeless.

Keywords: homelessness; migration; access to housing; data collection; exclusion.
