Considerazioni sull'analisi dei dati come fase del processo di ricerca in psicologia

DiPAV - QUADERNI

Fascicolo: 22 / 2008

Considerazioni sull'analisi dei dati come fase del processo di ricerca in psicologia Researchers carrying out their inquiries in psychology are usually more attentive to such aspects of research as context (literature, theories, models, etc.), constructs to be measured, tools to be used (if already existing or made ad hoc), hypotheses to be tested and final discussion. They are instead less trained on data analysis. This is seen sometimes as an insurmountable obstacle, sometimes as an automatism that someone else can deal with, better if in the space of half an hour, sometimes as a solution of faults that are unfortunately of the tool, the sample or even the general structure of research. For all these reasons, it is still quite a common practice that a researcher in psychology carries out a research thinking that the data will be analyzed by someone else, more capable and clever. The present paper wants to remind researchers in psychology that data analysis is a stage of their research, in order to let them think about the possibility of carrying it out by themselves, instead of automatically delegating others to do it.

The choice concerns more and more the profile and contents in inter-organizational relations and to govern responsibility sharing. In such a context, characterized by a constant attention to construction and evaluation of organizational processes, we have to read in a new way the traditional relationship between knowing what to do and knowing how to be. The knowing how to be dimension is getting a new meaning, exactly because the worker is more and more asked to participate to the construction of the organizational conditions of his own work. Here is the centrality of a reflection on situated organizational practices as heritage of practical knowledge, shared and contextualized, finalized to organizational problems solution.

Pratiche lavorative e innovazione delle competenze Which relation exists between institutional formation and continuous learning in daily working? How does a novice become an expert? What renders unique an expert? Which actions can lead to continuous innovation of the professional competences of members of an organization? An answer to such complex questions is provided relying on the founding aspects (theoretical, methodological and empiricists) of the social and situated theories of competence learning, and of cultural and group psychology. Gli effetti di fiducia e sicurezza nella valutazione di comportamenti positivi e negativi dell'altro The most recent studies about the connection between attachment and relationship style relate that the attachment style and its internal operating model shape not only close relations but all intimate interpersonal relationships. Researchers are agree about what differentiates a relationship from another, regarding the extent to which it becomes predictable on the basis of the attachment style of the subject, and it is the degree of attachment or mutual involvement. In every interpersonal interaction, the internal operating model will be activated in direct proportion to the degree of mutual involvement and to the extent to which a subject is important for the other. I’ll show here the elements that in the relationship determine the de- velopment of trust, the variable that more than any other determines the success of every care relationship.

DiPAV - QUADERNI

Fascicolo: 22 / 2008

Transazioni economiche e transazioni sociali: il tema della fiducia There is no single, accepted definition of trust. Depending on context and purpose, different definitions may prove useful. In order to grasp the meaning of such a complex concept it proves useful to provide some background that will enable to define the concept of trust and understand why it matters. This paper aims at providing some tentative answers to the following questions: What is trust? How can we measure it? What variables can explain differences in the degree of trust across individuals and communities? Why is it important to study trust? Does it matter for economic performance and why?

Methodology as ideology: some comments on Robert Axelrod's The Evolution of Cooperation

QA Rivista dell’Associazione Rossi-Doria

Fascicolo: 2 / 2008

The Evolution of Cooperation, by Axelrod (1984), is a highly influential study that identifies the benefits of cooperative strategies in the iterated prisoner’s dilemma. We argue that the most extensive historical analysis in the book, a study of cooperative behaviour in First World War trenches, is erroneous. Contrary to Axelrod’s claims, the soldiers on the Western Front were not generally in a prisoner’s dilemma (iterated or otherwise), and their cooperative behaviour can be explained much more parsimoniously as immediately reducing their risks. We discuss the political implications of this misapplication of game theory.
