Gadamer as Phenomenologist - The aim of this paper is to show the ontological turn in Gadamer’ s hermeneutics and its phenomenological significance. It is argued that Gadamer’ s philosophy may be seen as an ontology of language. The identification of being and language is then adduced as an explanation of hermeneutics in a phenomenological sense. On the ba- sis of an analysis of Gadamer’ s Truth and Method, the conclusion is drawn, that Gadamer takes this phenomenological point of view from Plato’s thinking about Beauty. Figal’s interpretation as evidence of the thing itself enables Gadamer to highlight the phenomenological meaning of the hermeneutics. The author analyses Gadamer’s philosophical hermeneutics in the light of the phenomenological and ontological concept of evidence: the question of language in terms of evidence. In this sense hermeneutics can be considered as phenomenology.

Gadamer and Neokantianism - The article deals with Gadamer’s ambivalent attitude towards Neokantianism in regard to three main subjects. Firstly we consider Gadamer’s early attempts to deconstruct transcendental idealism in the dispute with Nicolai Hartmann. Then we discuss Gadamer’s sceptical remarks concerning the neokantian concepts of the history of philosophical problems. Finally we look at examples of Gadamer’s way of reading ancient philosophy, including the polemic statements against Natorp’s interpretation of Plato. Our conclusion is that Gadamer is at most slightly influenced by Neokantianism, and that Neokantianism is merely the background for his independent and enthusiastic reception of Heidegger’s philosophy.

After his death in 1904, the work of Gabriel Tarde has experienced a long oblivion, also determined by the devaluation of his thinking on the part of official sociology of the time (Durkheim, Bouglè) that has summarily classified as a sociologist ‘individualist’. However, since the 1960s, Tardean individualism has found new supporters (Boudon) and also new critics (Mucchielli, Latour). What to do today in this ‘individualism’? Despite the devaluations, I am convinced that the sociological reflection of Tarde can provide an interesting perspective on the processes of subjectification in place, namely the construction of the personality through imitation.

The current Italian administrative reforms aim at a comprehensive evolution of the traditional organization and procedures, to achieve the goal of a more efficient and effective public administration, according to the contemporary attempts carried out in the advanced countries all over the world. These attempts, inspired by the New Public Management philosophy, largely use the rules of the managerial revolution of this end of millennium. In this context, the ministerial legislative sectors, and the ministers departmental staffs in which traditionally they are included, are interested by a legislative reform that is largely incoherent, due to the burden of a tradition that makes nearly impossible any radical and impartial renewal of the ministers departmental staffs.

Oltre alla conoscenza delle manifestazioni (da quelle più subdole alle più manifeste), è necessario riesaminare i modelli di prevenzione e di intervento per identificare i percorsi informativi e clinici più opportuni e funzionali al fine di limitare, arginare e curare gli effetti tossici delle relazioni perverse e disfunzionali.

Purpose - This paper investigates the impact of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and non-GAAP voluntary disclosures on equity returns for im-portant financial reporting dates. Design/methodology - Using hand-coded archival data, we developed 2,329 matched pairs consisting of non-GAAP (control) and GAAP (treatment) quarterly observations and compared the equity returns for each group around the earnings release and SEC filing dates. Findings - Our findings suggest that the valuation relevance of GAAP disclos-ing firms significantly exceeds that of non-GAAP firms in the case of earnings and cash flow surprises. These results support the notion that investors perceive GAAP-compliant disclosures as necessary, complementary information about a firm’s performance and equity value. We also reveal that the market revaluation of equi-ty on the earnings release date significantly exceeded that on the SEC filing date. This finding confirms that the more comprehensive disclosure provided by GAAP firms on the earlier date preempted at least some of the information subsequently disclosed on the SEC filing date. Value - Extends the voluntary disclosure literature, in particular the valuation relevance of GAAP versus non-GAAP disclosures. The findings discussed in this paper are of special interest to policymakers and regulators, financial analysts, corporate managers, firm stakeholders, and academics interested in financial re-porting as they continue to study voluntary disclosure rules and practices.
