The bereavement in the analytic experience with the "sandplay technique" - Taking into account the verbal comments and the image’s representations with "Sandplay" made by bereaved people, this paper describes the emotional reactions to loss and the dynamics of the mourning process. In the participant climate of the analytical relationship, people can share the grief for their loss and the search of Self, discovering the symbolic sense embedded in pain: the opening of a mental and affective space, where the presence and the importance of the intra-psychic and interpersonal aspects are recognized. The image’s representation brings to the surface deep and symbolic contents, that are not yet communicable in words. The presentation of a clinical case and the examination of some Sandplay scenes, that highlight a fundamental point of Jungian theory, "thinking trough images", concludes the paper.
