Nation and providence. Father Reginaldo Giuliani between Fiume and Ethiopia (1919-36) - As one of the leading figures of the pro-Fascist ecclesiastical area, during the interwar period Father Reginaldo Giuliani (Dominican Order of Preachers) (1887-1936) distinguished himself as an exponent of the deep union between Catholic faith and nationalism. With military decorations in the first world war, as a follower of D’Annunzio in Fiume, a very able speaker and chaplain of the fascist militia, he devoted himself in the 1920’s-30’s to the sacralisation of the nation, convinced that under Mussolini’s dictatorship Italy would become Christian again.
