The organizational asset of evaluation of Structural funds - concerning with the 2007- 2013 period - includes Steering Group (SG), that is a specific tool created to guarantee quality of evaluation results. This function could be carried out in general terms - such as at Evaluation Plan level - by involving stakeholder and manager of the different Programmes; or, SG can also be created for each evaluation: in this case, SG could have more specific tasks linked to the different phases of the evaluation project cycle. This article intends to shed light on the needs that SG aims to solve in the evaluation process but also risks and opportunity connected with this innovation.
