The paper reflects on the importance of the place making processes analysis, that leads to break with the asymmetry between global and local dynamics, relocating the centrality of place in the socio-cultural identity processes. To that intent, the article analyzes the evolution of the Huerto del Rey Moro urban movement in the city of Seville. The struggle to avoid the housing development of a vacant lot located in the city center is combined with a community gardens development. The conflict analysis allows us to visualize latent significances of the contemporary city, pointing to the centrality of public space and green areas as laboratories from which to resume creative urban dwelling.
