Social functioning is as an important dimension to consider in treatment planning and as outcome measure in psychiatric clinical and research settings. Given the relative independency between social functioning and symptom alleviation, several specific questionnaires have been developed to measure social alterations in patients with a psychiatric disorder. The aim of the present article is to present the translation in Italian of a newly social functioning questionnaire, the QFS (Questionnaire de Fonctionnement Social) and to summarise its principal psychometric characteristics. The QFS enables to measure two dimensions: the frequency and the level of satisfaction of social behaviours. Brief and simple to fill in, the QFS appears to be a valid and appropriate instrument to use with various patients groups and therapeutic settings.
