The essay analyzes the changes in international cooperation and humanitarianism, focusing on the difficulty of being an international development professional. In emphasizing the relationship between Ngos and civil society, the essay shows how many Ngos, are nowadays subjected to the process of bureaucratization. As a consequence, Ngos are increasingly criticized by the grassroots organizations for being ineffective agents of change.
