Despite the great hope held by social movements connected with land struggle regarding the magnification of agrarian reform in Lula’s government, i.e., the hope that finally agrarian reform would be prioritized by the government and that land distribution structure would be modified in Brazil, the fact was that agrarian reform during the two terms of office of Lula in the presidency was far below the expected. This article is intended to provide readers with the political dynamics and actors (family agriculturists and ethnic peasants) emerging from the displacement of political action concerning the land distribution issue and agrarian reform in Brazil during Lula’s government (2003-2010).
