Evaluation of the economic, environmental and territorial effects of biomass energy chain is very important for the Italian mountain economy . The study aims to assess the economic efficiency of the available technology, the long term economic sustainability of the chain, the social effects induced on enterprise and community and the environmental effects caused by these technologies. Furthermore the study also evalated management issues indicated by the stakeholders (forest owners, forestry enterprise, energy plant operators, end users). The results presented are a part of overall results achieved during to France-Italy partnership project called BIOMASS. The results are a useful support tool for the design of the supply chain and the plant in terms of logistics, of infrastructures and for the evaluation of the socio- economic effects on the local communities and on the local businesses.
