Michel van de Kerchove has left us. Former Rector of the FUSL (Brussels), he was one of the most brilliant intellectuals of the francophone area, with nearly 30 books and over 200 papers published in journals. He was also a great administrator in the area of interdisciplinary research at international level. His sphere of speciality encompassed the general theory of law, the public policies of prevention, alternative judicial measures and penal ethics. He will also be remembered as a profound humanist, tolerant, open to others and believing deeply in the value of all individuals.
