Criminal organizations can take advantage of a gray area of collusion with other parties which, although in itself extraneous to the structure of criminal organizations, build mutually profitable business relationship with the latter. In this view, corruption of public officials is functional to the organized crime. Although distinct phenomena, organized crime and corruption are characterized by objective interrelationships that require targeted action through legal instruments oriented to the Economic Analysis of Law.
