In this paper, I report a case of trance in psychotherapy with a pregnant patient. The experience of pregnancy and the imminent birth of her daughter evoke the ghosts of her past, a psychological heritage of a traumatic childhood, that’s going to occur once more. The traumatic content hinders the chance for the patient to imagine herself as a caring mother and to fantasize about the moment she will meet her own daughter. During the psychotherapy, the patient begins to explore her complex past relationships and to recognize and give meaning to her fears. She entertains the possibility of an oneiric encounter with her ghostsdemons, and consequentially she begins to consider a future experience that may differ from the transgenerational repetition.
