The author presents a comparative investigation into the current European and national antinegationism laws. Then, he reconstructs the legislative process of the Italian anti-negationism law between 2012 and 2016, analysing the successive drafts of it and following the parliamentary debate. He also considers the orientation of public opinion on this issue, focusing in particular on the reactions of academic historians.
