The regeneration of the square Don Sandro Manzoni, even though with limited resources, responds to the need to reconquer a highly sensitive place for the community, thus implementing one of the main objectives of the new Town plan of Romano di Lombardia. The new public space takes the form of a common ground, altogether dynamic, flexible and multifunctional: a vast lawn that can accommodate areas for both different activities and leisure, a multipurpose surface designed for events, sports, markets and neighborhood parties. This small operation not only responds to the principle of mending the existing urban fabric, but above all exemplifies an efficient process of integration of both planning and design tools, and of the multitude of stakeholders and resources that have been involved in various ways.
