In this article, the author analyses the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the migratory system existing between Spain and Morocco, using as a theoretical ap-proach the concept of bordering. Starting from the first months of 2020, the in-creasing spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus has generated a very significant disrup-tion of the different components of mobility existing between the two neighbour-ing countries. This is reflected in five main dynamics: 1) the appearance of new forced return migrations; 2) the disruption of existing cross-border flows; 3) the changes in informal migration channels and the reappearance of the Atlantic route to the Canary Islands; 4) the emergence of buffer spaces at the borders; 5) the re-organization of the facilitators of informal crossings and the smuggling organiza-tions. In the short term, therefore, the exogenous shock of the pandemic has caused deep changes, those persistence in the medium and long term will need constant attention in the future.
